A message on Twitter (a tweet) is 140 characters or less. This may not seem like much but really is quite long. It is longer than a normal classified and is probably close to the amount of text in most ads. For example;
Your restaurant – 6th St. – Mon 9/7 – 12-2pm – 1st 25 customers get 50% off entrée, everyone else gets free drink & cookie with meal.
This is 140 characters. As you can see, quite a lot of information can be shared in a tweet.
